There is a ten percent increase to movement, compared to Halo 5's twenty percent. The speed increase is instant, and the duration of firing out of it is instant. Also, the time it takes to move forward to backward, side to side, in base movement is instant, which means strafe is very good. Clamber is faster, slide is lesser.

Least obtrusive version of sprint yet, but it's still sprint.

hopefully they can go the reach route and not base the maps too much around it. the maps actually played for the most part fine when sprint was removed. only a few changes had to be made for certain maps (countdown healthpack)

@a Chunk These embedded links could have the same Orange as your tagged name in this comment, but as the font colour, not background colour. The blue font is honestly difficult to read.

Honestly, the soundtrack was the highlight of the showcase. Gareth Coker from Ori is definitely a win for this game.

I thought the soundtrack was generic. The only thing that stood out to me as a positive was the shifting of the main theme’s chant to a low C#. I really did not like the use of over saturated  ‘action’ music in the big grapple reveal. Will update this post with reasoning.

Re. Music - if you listen in the section where the player first uses that grapple hook, the incidental music is nothing more than your standard variety of action  staccato string section hits overlaid on a growling soft-trap beat. Then there are the horns that accompany you to the top of the hill, and the re-use of the distorted fuzz snare mixed in with the very tribal drums. This is clearly a nod to Reach's use of brass harmonies - and because of that it makes me feel conflicting emotions. The use of brass in Reach was to stress the atmosphere of impending doom, towards which you march, knowingly. They are the sad horns of fulfilling a tragic duty.  The horns here are triumphant, but use the same harmonies, the same style of voice leading that Reach's used, and are overlaid on the same action  beat as the strings before. There's no layering. It feels empty, just like the world around the player. But it also feels frantic, and scripted. I think it is generic, not special, and I don't like it.

Compare this to the original soundtracks, which used pedal tones, both in terms of pitch and in terms of instrumentation. Long, sustained choral lines, tender string harmonies, resonant drums, and very, very, VERY restrained brass to fill out the choir. And each line would lead into the next, each layer would lead into the next, each 'choir' pushes the next one. Even the tracks that use a drum machine or synths, and an anvil are constructed in the same way. Hero, Heretic, for example, and it's Halo 3 version - the hybridization of instruments feels so natural in these, and the emotional tone is 10 times more poignant because of the use of voice, of breath, of sustain. The use of the bass and bongos, and a rock drum set all fits so well, and doesn't get in your face with what it is conveying. It's clear, not frantic. And it fills out the world, rather than beating you over the head.

It reminds me of  every other big-budget shooter that's come out in the last 5 years. More of the same. Safe. Not trampling on the legacy of the original soundtracks, but nevertheless undercutting them with something that has been heard a billion times before.

While I'm on the subject, I think the same goes for the cinematics. I appreciate the one-take movement, for sure, a lot of work goes into setting up that kind of shot. But one of the things that makes Halo 3 stand out to me was its use of storyboarding, its use of tight lenses, wide shots, etc. which made the game to look so much more real than it was. I don't get that same impression from a one-cam shot at the dashboard of a Pelican. If anything, it makes the characters look smaller, less real, because I'm watching every single little jitter they make from the same angle, like I'm really there, but not really. It makes me feel like I am a voyeur, not like I am watching a story unfold, within which I can invest myself.

No identity, but wearing a mask. Huh. The more real it is in representation, the less real it feels in the experience of the art (or the assets).

Historical example: Michelangelo's David. The anatomy is all wrong - but man, what a sculpture!

You know... one of the big things that sold the scale of CE, 2, 3 was that their levels and art were

b o u n d e d

in the context of the world and the story and the game engine. Wide vistas, assets approached like painters would - not sculptors and lighting nerds. This trailer has none of the style, none of the imagination that you provide as a party to the limitations of the 2D image. Like the guy in the DF video says, it’s all treated ‘equally’ - nothing’s special. And even worse, the special things look really out of place.

@Buddy Jumps I tried changing the link color. I can do it and it looks better like that.  But...it literally changes anything that's a link to that color, which I really don't like.  Here's what the forums main page looks like:

It's a bit too much, imo.

I think 343 recruited the wrong people from the forge community. Question is, if they did pick the right people, would they have actually utilized them? Im sickened by the architecture shown in the reveal. I'm sure I will still get the game bc I'll take whatever new forge assets I can get. Literally havent made a thing since the joke contest so I'm starting to feel the itch a bit. I wish there was another game other than fucking Murder Miners with an accessible level editor and good gameplay.

Blaze has been pushing that Diabotical game he worked on, that has arena mechanics and a level editor.  Not sure when it is properly available though.

Definitely with you re. architecture showcased in gameplay trailer. The UNSC and Banished assets looked like giant H5 container pieces. 😞

I mean there are some redeeming qualities worth mentioning about the campaign levels, i like how they broke up some parts of the ring into these vertically staggered islands, from a gameplay perspective its really cool, i would love to explore the ring like this, its just those overly  primitive and overly reflective honey comb things that make up the foundation of the islands that look really bad. If they where more matte and had some erosion and seams to break up the primitive shape i think it would blend better and not looks like Minecraft or murder miner procedurally generated terrain

And where there forgers in charge on campaign levels? I never considered that a possibility, i just assumed they where making arena maps. The halo ring look very modular-ish which is expected for open world, but it looks like an amateurish modular built world, even the forgers wouldn't't be that bad

also back to halo infinite. a lot of idiots think 343 modeled the Halo Wars 2 phatom in the Infinite demo 1:1 and that it has to go cause it looks ugly. It's not 1:1, 343 once again fucked up. Halo Wars 2 models are actually fucking dope I seriously don't get how they fuck this up so bad everytime...

Halo Wars 2 phantom has the front two blades like the halo 2 and 3 phantom. This shitty 343 phantom doesn't... UGLY megablocks phantom

look how ugly and flat the side is and their signature LIGHT BLOOM IS BACK

I made Halo Infinite settings after watching the campaign demo over thirty times. For scaling reference, I'd recommend looking to the Mythic maps, as Halo 5 scaled maps are actually too large for Infinite settings.

Here's what's changed:

-Suspension Jet BR & Gunfighter Magnum starts
-Instant 10% speed increase Sprint
-Strafe maxed out
-Slightly higher Jump and faster Clamber
-Shorter Slide
-Shield Recharge Reset while Sprinting removed
-You can reload while Sprinting
-Grenade Blast radius 80%
-Gunfighter Flagnum
-Radar Off

If any of you are interested, my GT is "Oh SoulFlame", and you can download these modes from Waypoint.

Literally broke down how to build a fucking panel start to finish 10 times with her and she still doesn't even understand the concept of what we are making. This is one of 5 new people and all are making 55 an hour and all are idiots. I get to be king of the idiots and my reign of terror began today. I'll only have 3 left by friday so anyone needs a job and is a union carpenter in the bay area (yeah, I know) I got work. You're gonna get to see a side of me that most never will, hehehehehehe. Seriously tho, I make 5% more than these motherfuckers. It's a joke.

These girls are just beginning to flower. It's been a little more difficult than I expected with the whiteflies and caterpillars and heat, but they are looking pretty good so far. Pests are being managed and I think I've got the rest figured out. I'll just post a couple more updates. This is gonna be so much better next year when I pick from a list of hundreds of seeds instead of just picking whatever clones they have that day at the dispensary.

Are you saying that a Union Carpenter with 2 years of experience, and who is being paid $55/hr to work on a California State or San Francisco/Berkeley County/City Environmental Education project does not understand how to fabricate a wooden panel for application to the exterior of a presumably LEED Certified Visitor Center building at a Public Water Treatment Facility  in the Bay Area, CA?

Why am I not surprised?

Also, you should probably edit that top photo so that we can't see people's names on the email chain.
